Apple Cider Syrup Ingredients
Sugar: For this syrup recipe, you will need 2 cups of granulated sugar.
Cornstarch: Add in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to help thicken this syrup nicely.
Pumpkin pie spice: Use 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to flavor this syrup well.
Apple cider: You need 4 cups of apple cider for the base of this recipe. I prefer Honey Crisp apple cider, I think it tastes the best, but use whatever you like or have on hand.
Lemon juice: Adding in 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to this recipe will give it more great flavor.
Butter: To give this syrup a great rich taste, add in 6 tablespoons of butter.
Canning jars: This is not an ingredient, but to store the syrup in,I love to use 4 8-oz canning jars.
How to make Apple Cider Syrup
Cook
In a medium sized saucepan, over medium/high heat, combine the sugar, cornstarch and pumpkin pie spice together and whisk to mix together.
Then, pour in the apple cider and lemon juice, stirring until the dry ingredients dissolve completely.
Proceed to bring the mixture to a boil, once it start to boil, turn the heat down a little bit so it is not a rolling boil anymore. Then, set a timer for 30 minutes and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally to make sure the mixture doesn’t burn.
Once the syrup has cooked for the 30 minutes, add in the butter and stir it in gently until it has melted completely. Then remove the pan off the heat.
Cool and serve
Continue to pour the syrup into canning jars, let the syrup cool in the jars for a little bit. Once cooled, place the lid tightly on top and store in the fridge until you are ready to use.
When you are ready to enjoy the syrup, take the lid off the jar and microwave it for 1-2 minutes. Then pour it on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, pound cake, or whatever you’d like!
Serve and enjoy!

How is syrup made?
There are many, many different kinds of syrup, and how they are made just depends on what kind of syrup you are making. Typically, syrup is made from boiling sugar with butter and a liquid, then cooling it slowly. In this case the liquid is apple cider, which is what gives it that classic fall taste!
How long is this homemade syrup good for?
Syrup has a long shelf life when refrigerated. Because it is made with preserving ingredients like sugar, it stays fresh for up to 6 months when stored in the fridge.
Can you freeze apple syrup?
Yes you can! Syrup actually keeps best when stored in the freezer. However, it will not freeze solid. Just remember to store it in airtight jars or containers for maximum results. When you are ready to use, let thaw in the fridge overnight and heat in the microwave before using.
