In 2001, J-E-L-L-O (do me a favor and sing the tune as you read the word Jell-O) became the official snack of the State of Utah. Did you know we consume twice the amount of Jello as any other state? I probably buy more than my fair share of Jell-O because it is so versatile and inexpensive.
That puts a lot of people on a Jell-O Recipe quest. It seems you can never have too many recipes for this tasty product. My family loves this Creamy Orange Jell-O. It's so refreshing and light but it's also sweet enough that it could be used as a dessert. If you love Creamsicles, you will love this creamy orange and lemon Jell-O iced with cool whip and vanilla pudding.
Creamy Orange Jell-O
Jell-O Layer:
Prepare 1 large box Cook and Serve Lemon pudding according to package directions
Prepare 1 large box Orange Jell-O according topackage directions
Wisk together Jell-O and pudding and pour into a 9×13 pan or two 8″ round pans. Let set up in refrigerator until set or overnight.
Icing Layer:
1 small vanilla pudding package
1 cup milk
1 – 8 oz carton Cool Whip
1 small can mandarin oranges
Wisk pudding and milk together. Fold in Cool Whip. Top the Jello layer from above with Cool Whip mixture. Drain and pat dry the mandarin orange segments and place one on each piece of Jell-O.
Give this yummy Creamy Orange Jell-O a try. It's easy but impressive and I promise if you take this to a family gathering or potluck, you WILLbe asked for the recipe!

November 25, 2020 at 5:20 pmSorry I meant for the bottom to put the I stand serve and it be ok. Also in your video you put an egg in yours…. the package doesn’t call for that. The orange jello on bottom calls for 2 cups hot and cold do u do that?

November 26, 2019 at 7:13 pmHelp!
I can’t find lemon cook and serve pudding anywhere! Only instant lemon pudding.
I picked up vanilla cook and serve and some of the instant lemon pudding mixes.
Do you think it would taste okay if I reversed it? Put the vanilla in with the orange jello, then use the instant lemon in the mix for the icing?
Any other ideas??
Thank you!Reply

The creamy orange jello was made differently. Nothing was mentioned about the pudding mix.
Please explain the difference.

December 10, 2018 at 10:08 pmHi Cora, I’m sorry I am not familiar with the Utah State Plate Show. However, this recipe is just one that my family has enjoyed for many years. I know that there are many different Jell-O recipes and this just happens to be one of my favorites.

November 18, 2018 at 6:12 pmI’m definitely making this for Thanksgiving since the color would be an extra delight to the table. Do you think adding crushed pineapple and half of the mandarin oranges to the orange/lemon combination would still allow it to congeal? I’ve never mixed pudding with the jello and not sure if it would work…any thoughts?? Thank you for sharing. :o)

November 19, 2018 at 6:17 amHi Kelly! This Creamy Orange Jell-O would be the perfect addition to Thanksgiving! I would be worried about adding watery fruits like pineapple and mandarin oranges to the Jell-O portion and still having it set up. If you decide to add the fruit I would make sure it is VERY well drained (maybe even lay out the fruit on paper towels after you drain it so that it is nice and dry) or you could do a test run using the fruit before Thanksgiving. Good luck, I am sure it will be a hit with your friends and family!

January 19, 2017 at 9:35 pmYes, I think it would be delicious with any flavor as long as it pairs well with lemon. I have tried lime Jell-O before and it was wonderful. If you try it, let us know how it turns out!

July 30, 2015 at 7:52 pmYour Facebook post says eggs and cream. I see one egg in the video. I’m wondering if they substitute cream for milk in the first pudding as well?
Thanks for the recipe!

August 2, 2015 at 11:16 amBy Cream I meant Whipped Cream by way of the Cool Whip. But, you could substitute half and half and for the milk and that might make it extra creamy. I’ll have to try it. Only one egg or according to your package directions. I wrote eggs because egg sounded weird to me. Enjoy, come back and let me know how you liked it.
