Jamie Lee Curtis, Christina Applegate and more stars expressed their sadness and anger over Harris' loss, while Trump supporters like Joe Rogan and Jeff Bezos celebrated his win, which marks the first time a convicted felon has been elected president.
Donald Trump will return to the White House as he has been elected the 47th President of the United States, defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
On late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning, several news outlets, including FOX News, MSNCN and CNN, declared Trump the winner of the election after he surpassed the 270 electoral votes with a total of 277. While there are still some states that have yet to finish reporting, Trump cinched the presidency after he won multiple battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
"We overcame obstacles that nobody ever thought we could," Trump said in part during his acceptance speech from West Palm Beach alongside his running mate JD Vance. "This will truly be the golden age of America."
Harris has not officially conceded the race. President Joe Biden has yet to comment.
Trump's win marks the first time a convicted felon has been elected president. At 87, he's also officially the oldest president-elect in history. Trump will become the second former president to serve two non-consecutive terms after Grover Cleveland, who was the 22nd and 24th president in the 1880s and 1890s.
Trump won the popular vote for the first time. He lost the popular vote in 2016 to Hilary Clinton, but won the electoral college. In 2020, he was defeated by Biden in both the popular vote and the electoral college vote.
In addition to winning the presidency, Republicans flipped the Senate. The House has yet to be called.
Following the news of Trump's win, stars across Hollywood and figures in the political world took to social media to react.
Trump's Win Shocks Hollywood
Many celebrities expressed their sadness, disappointment, and anger over Trump's win and Harris' devastating loss on social media.
"Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why?And if you disagree , please unfollow me," wrote Christina Applegate on X, before adding in another post, "Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal. Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done. Also after today I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years because this is sick."
Lili Reinhart brought up the over two dozen women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct or abuse. "I cannot fathom the feeling of the women who came forward about their sexual assault at the hands of Trump," she wrote on X of Trump, who was found liable for the sexual abuse of writer E. Jean Carroll from an incident in the 1990s last year. "Seeing millions of people vote for their abuser. My heart absolutely breaks for these women. I believe you, and I am so sorry."
Jamie Lee Curtis posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, writing in part, "So the results are in. Many will be celebrating, possibly even gloating over their victory. Many will be stunned and sad with the terrible feelings of the loss. That is the same result despite who wins because that's what America and democracy looks like. Has always looked like."
She added that we need to "wake up and fight."
"Fight for women and our children and their futures and fight against tyranny, one day at a time," Curtis said. "One fight at a time. One protest at a time. That's what it means to be an American. That's what it has always meant and will always mean regardless of the outcome."
Meanwhile, during an Instagram Live, Cardi B hit back at a fan who suggested she should perform at Trump's inauguration. "I swear to god I'm gonna f--k you up, get away from me," she said. "I'm sick of you! Burn you're f--kng hats motherf--ker. I’m really sad. I swear to god I'm really sad."
Of Harris, she added, "I just hope she knows no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her. Women around the world are proud of her. Women of color are proud of her."

Trump Supporters Celebrate
While Harris supporters posted about their disappointment online, celebrity Trump voters and other prominent figures took to social media to celebrate Trump's win.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos posted on X, writing, "Big congratulations to our 45th and now 47th President on an extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory. No nation has bigger opportunities. Wishing @realDonaldTrump all success in leading and uniting the America we all love."
Elon Musk -- who owns X -- reacted to Trump's win on his platform. "The people of America gave @realDonaldTrump a crystal clear mandate for change tonight," he wrote.
Podcast host Joe Rogan reposted FOX News declaring Trump as the winner. Alongside the post, he wrote, "WHOLE. LEE. S--T."
Meanwhile, reality star Savannah Chrisley shared several posts on her Instagram Stories celebrating Trump's victory. "It happened. That's all I have to say, it happened. Our future, our next four years is a hell of a lot better than where we've been," she told her followers in a video while wearing Trump merchandise.
She followed up with videos of herself walking past Trump 2024 signs and watching the news. She kept repeating, "We did it."
